Discover Belize
The stable, democratic country of Belize awaits visitors, at less than a half-day's bus ride from Cancun, Mexico; an hour-long boat ride from Livingston or Puerto Barrios, Guatemala; or a two-hour flight from Miami, Houston, or Dallas.
Belizean culture blends Latino and West Indian elements with its own traditions to form a uniquely colorful and friendly society. Although English is the official language, many other languages are spoken among the different races. Of its 220,000 people, Belize is considered a "melting pot" because it is home to so many different races and cultures: East Indian, Creole, Mestizo, Garifuna, Spanish, Mayan, Lebanese, Mennonites and the Chinese.
Belize is an exciting holiday destination for nature lovers and archaeology buffs. Its Barrier Reef, dubbed an “underwater wonder of the world”, is an irresistible temptation for snorkelers, divers and marine biologists from around the world. Some 200 small cayes along the coastline offers beautiful sandy beaches and crystal blue water.
Its virgin jungle holds the world’s only Jaguar Preserve and is home to over 500 species of birds. Within its area of 8,864 square miles, Belize has over 600 known sites of ancient civilizations, many which are easily accessible.
Below we offer a brief introduction to what Belize has to offer along with a map of the locations of these different attractions. But this only touches the surface. There is so much to see and do in Belize that you could visit us every year for the rest of your life and never run out of that “special” travel experience that is Belize.
